I’ve chosen the cache expiry mode “action based”, but if I update a page, does Swift automatically update the caching for that page?

Of course Swift will refresh it automatically. Actually “action” based means any action which changes the content (update/new post/comment/order, etc). Time based mode will also clear/prebuild page cache when it was updated, but it will also clear the cache after it expired.
